Zarmina Saeed is my batchmate in Amal Fellowship. She was also my first partner in the very first activity of this fellowship. It happened when I and Zarmina shared a break-out room and we had to tell the story behind our names. After the activity, some of them had to share the stories of the fellows they had listened and Zarmina shared my story.
At first, positive things don’t happen too often. So, through this journey and getting feedback from the people, you don’t even know and have not even met in life just gives you enough motivation to complete the pending things. The starting weeks were full of exploring your potential and putting it towards better use. We were given some tasks and assignments where we had to make tables and pen down some of our thoughts, notions, smart, and long-run goals.
The thing is we most of the time know what we always have a vague idea of what we want to be but the thing we do not know is how to break it down, is it feasible, is it really what we want to do? How are we going to pursue it? What is the time period for it? What will be the deliverables for it? Will it be beneficial for us to put our energy into some specific kind of work and how to recognize the potential of it on us? These are the things that we do not know and through this fellowship, I can now confidently cover all this knowing I have all this learning with me, and this ability just sets you apart from your peers because you will not be wasting time like your peers.
Now you know what you want to do and how you are going to do. In week 2 we were assigned a project where we had to make S.M.A.R.T goals and do an activity without authority. I did my best and was confident that I will win the best project award but, Zarmina won it ahead of me. I was happy for her but at the same time felt extra motivated that lady has already done her best and I utilized all the learning and the motivation and tried to win the best project award two later.
Zarmina was still the center of the things happening to me in the fellowship. So, whenever her work ethic comes in context, I get all these flashbacks and the experience of it, the learnings from it helps me remain centered. I discovered all these things I have mentioned above and how I have been doing it wrong. Three months old I might have not known all these things but today; now I know how to do things differently.
